Man lift rental
A personnel lift is a one-person vertical mast on a small rolling base. It is the machine for changing a light, pulling cable or servicing something overhead in a finished building, and it is by a wide margin the cheapest way to work at height indoors.

How to choose the right man lift
It is pushed, not driven
Push-around lifts are positioned by hand with the platform down and cannot be driven at height. If the work runs along a wall in short steps, that is fine and cheap. If it runs along a wall continuously, a scissor lift saves a lot of time.
Outriggers need floor space
The base is small but the outriggers splay well beyond it, and they have to be down and level before the mast goes up. In a tight aisle the footprint, not the machine, is the constraint.
Capacity is one person and their tools
Around 350 lb, which is one person plus what they can carry. Two people or heavy material means a scissor lift.

Frequently asked questions
What does man lift rental cost in Texas?
- A 20-31 ft personnel lift runs $175–$235 a day, $390–$490 a week and $685–$750 for four weeks. Larger sizes scale from there, and the full table is on this page. Dallas runs about 15% above the Texas average, and San Antonio and Fort Worth about 20% above.
Is it cheaper to rent by the week?
- Substantially. Across Texas listings a week costs about two and a half day rates and four weeks about five, so the effective cost per day roughly halves on a weekly hire. If the job is five days or more, ask for the weekly rate rather than five daily ones, and most suppliers will apply it automatically, but not all of them.
What does the rate not include?
- Delivery and collection, fuel, the transport surcharge most suppliers index to the diesel price, the rental protection plan at around 15% unless you supply a compliant certificate of insurance, and tax. Our estimator adds delivery, protection and tax so you can see the real number rather than the headline one.
How is man lift rental taxed in Texas?
- Texas charges 8.25% sales tax on bare rental in every city we cover. Sales tax only. The TERP surcharge applies to off-road diesel equipment, so it does not apply to this machine.
Do I need a certified operator?
- Personnel lifts are aerial work platforms under ANSI A92, so operator training and a site assessment apply even though the machine is small and looks like access equipment.
